Commercial Law Associate Vacancy

We’re looking for a commercial attorney with at least 2 years post-articles  experience. An individual with a passion for business law and an entrepreneurial spirit will be the perfect fit.   This is an exciting opportunity to establish yourself as a key member of an innovative and up-and-coming law firm. Be part of a firm changing the way commercial law services are delivered.   Being a newly established law firm, it is, however, essential that the candidate demonstrates an ability to manage client relations, billing processes and be pro-active in terms of practice management in general.  

In addition, the candidate should possess the following:

• Experience in commercial law transactions as well as commercial dispute resolutions; • Solid grasp on the legal aspects of corporate finance (debt and equity finance); • Have a solution driven attitude in relation to all matters corporate, commercial and contractual: • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills; • A passion for business law; • A passion for working with SMEs; • Excellent analytical skills; • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); • An idea meritocracy leadership style; • Excellent business law acumen; • The ability to work as a member of a team; and • A strong work ethic

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge and expertise in:

• Company Law (experience in drafting governing documents, a wide variety of commercial agreements and an ability to provide quality business law advice); • Commercial dispute resolution (Including the ability to escalate a matter and manage all stages of the litigation process).; • Negotiating both buy and sell side of commercial transactions; • Project finance experience. Advising, negotiating and assisting clients with executing funding solutions (debt and equity financing); • Corporate Governance; and • General business law. We have seen an increased interest from our business owner clients for fiduciary law services.  On this basis, a candidate with fiduciary law expertise (Trust Law, Preparing of Last Will and Testaments, Trust Audits, Administration of Estates) will be advantageous, but is not a requirement.  

Minimum Requirements

• LLB • 2+ years’ post article experience in a Corporate and Commercial Law environment.
